My FIRST Baby

Here you go mommies - a different kind of survey for a change - it's all about you and your first baby. I saw this on a friend's blog and figured I would do this today in honor of my first borns 2nd Birthday.

1. Were you married at the time?Yep for 6 years!

2. What were your reactions? I was pretty excited, not really over the top outwardly excited. If you truely knew me, you would understand that I am a pretty reserved person about anything like that.

3. How old were you? I was 26 years old when I had him.

4. How did you find out you were pregnant? I suspected that I might be pregnant because things had not happened regularly like they should. I took the test and that was it. Pretty uneventful.

5. Who did you tell first? Of course I told Jeff first but then he ended up telling my little sister, Mindy, over the phone. We then were headed over to my parents house for a family get together and the news was out there. Mindy told my sister Heidi, and then my parents knew after that.

6. Did you want to find out the sex? A big YES! I can't not know. I have to know. I just could not stand the thought of buying lots of green and yellow when technology allows us the opportunity to find out. Plus we refered to him by his name when we found out it was a boy. He no longer was an it.

My work baby shower. My co-worker on the bottom right hand side was due a month and a half after I was. I had worked with her for so long and these were our first babies, so it was fun. We had another co-worker that quit have her first baby 2 months before me. And then another co-worker in the picture had her first in October of that same year. It was so exciting around the office.

7. Due date? April 21, 2006

This was a picture from a shower put on by my sisters. I thought that this would show my belly but the black really hides it. This was taken about a week before I had him. I looked perfectly normal from behind and then I would turn and there was the belly.

8.Did you deliver early or late? I delivered one week early on April 14th (two days before Easter).

9. Did you have morning sickness? Not at all, thank goodness!

10. What did you crave? I like to think that I really didn't crave anything at all. However looking back, I would buy Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream things a LOT! And I could eat one of those in 1-2 days at my desk (I was still working). Okay, so I must have been craving that.

11. Who irritated you the most? Nobody, I was a happy pregnant lady.

12. What was your child's sex?Male, I always wanted a boy first

13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy?I was talking to a friend about this last night and I estimate it to be about 35lbs.

14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Nope

15.Where did you give birth? St. Lukes Downtown in Boise, Idaho (even though I live less than a block from a hospital and live about 30 minutes from this one. I worked closer to this one at the time so my doctors appointments were convenient.)

16. How many hours were you in labor? The day before, I had worked my entire 8 hours of work feeling great. I then went home, we watched a movie with friends and went to bed. My water broke at about 2:30am. We were trying to figure out if we should go to the hospital. I had a doctors appointment that morning and was planning on picking up the paper that tells me signs of labor and when I should go to the hospital. We got out the phone book to look up a never to call then gave up. I really was only half packed, so we gathered the res up and left. We headed to the hospital and was admitted immediately of course. They did an ultrasound to look at the baby and his progress and discovered that he was breach and his legs were up by his ears...so incredibly mild labor was about 2-3 hours long.

17. Who drove you to the hospital? Jeff

18.Who watched?Jeff, he was so fascinated by the entire thing. He would stand up and look over the screen at what they were doing and Dr. West would explain to him everything that he was seeing and they were doing.

This may gross you out. Sorry! This picture is really so cool! I love it. I turned it into a black and white and have it framed on my bookshelf. I saw one in the the doctors office like this weeks before and really liked it.

19.Was it natural or c-section? C-section, they had to get him out fast. So from the time that they discovered his position and the time that he was out was about 1/2 hours. It went fast. By 7:04am, we had a baby. Now I would have it no other way. It was a very easy recovery and the entire process was so fast. I liked that. Boy were my co-workers shocked to find out that I had a baby that morning. Maternity leave then began.

20. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? Of course

21.How much did your child weigh? 8 lbs. 5 oz., exactly what I was when I was born.

22.Did your child have any complications? No, he was perfect.

23. What did you name baby? Gunnar James Miller

Gunnar's blessing day, 2 weeks after he was born.

24. How old is your first born today? Exactly 2 years old today!

Wow Kristi. Okay first, you look GREAT pregnant. You're one of those women who could have 15 babies with a problem. Of course you might loose your mind careing for all of them! I didn't realize you had a c-section. I'm glad your recovery was smooth. My first was aweful! I just hurt for SO long. Now they aren't so bad anymore... Permenant nerve damage I guess. Anyway. That was really interesting. TFS. And Happy birthday Gunner boy.
