Just Awesome

Photobucket
Jeff was in the office a couple of weeks ago and Gunnar and I were headed in there when I noticed the tree outside through the door. It was awesome. The lighting was just so cool on this tree. I don't know what it was. Maybe the blue sky behind or the awesome shadowing or the cool orange color the sunset was producing. Nature is so full of wonder and surprises and I love it.

Our first garden

This year we decided to actually start a garden. Every year we talk about it and never do anything about it. I have to give all of the credit to Jeff because I was just dragging my feet. We have only one spot in our yard with sun. The rest is all shaded with very mature trees. My dad came over and tilled it up and then we fenced it in. We got the picket fence sections from my parents old house before it was bulldozed. It was part of an old fence that my brother cut down and removed every other slat. My mom was going to use it on her own garden when they lived there. Thankfully that never happened because we now have them. They have some of the red paint still on them. It gives the fence a really rustic, worn look. Jeff is still finishing but you get an idea from the pictures. With dogs, we have to have the fence. We are still waiting for about another week to pass to avoid any late frosts. We are so excited. We have 4 tomato plants and 3 pepper plants bought already. One of the pepper plants is a Purple Sweet Pepper. I am really excited to see how they turn out. They are as purple as an eggplant. We are also going to plant pumpkins, cucumbers, zucchini, spinach, yellow squash, sunflowers and broccoli in the fall. I also have raspberry starts lined up to get from someone. I can't wait to see what happens this summer. First we need to get these things in the ground. The metal posts in the garden area are old clothesline posts. We are going to put fencing panels across them and use them to grow vine type plants. We will probably grow cucumbers on one this year and who knows what on the other. Peas for sure next year. The green in the pictures is grass that the rototiller could not get too. Eventually we will kill that off. We also have established peony plants, hibiscus and rose plants along the fence line that we will keep. We hope to build growing boxes over the years.

Gerbera Daisies

Some of you may be thinking, "Is this girl a little nutty about flowers right now." Well yes I am. They are all so beautiful this time of year. I can't help it. Well these I didn't grow obviously. One of my dear friends went through a rough time in her life recently so the girls at PFOP pitched in and got her flowers. I was the lucky one to deliver them. Before I did, I couldn't help but take some pictures in my car. They are so pretty and bright. I love the cheerful colors.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L Part 2

When Jeff was testing some of the sprinklers, they wet some of the flowers. I thought that I would take more pictures of the tulips. They are so pretty and every fall I think that I should plant more and never do.
I love how the light makes these tulips almost translucent.
This picture looks so soft around the edges.
This was one of the tulips that got wet. You can see the water droplet hanging on near the bottom.
This is the inside of the flower. I love how the water just pooled near the middle.
